THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL

That awkward moment....when you write a long list of movies and then can't find it anywhere when you ACTUALLY have time to watch one on Saturday night. Comedy? Drama? Romcom? Or maybe thriller? No, I decided to go with the most "appealing" genre -documentary. 


THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL was written in caps on a note, which has been on my table for ages, a year. I'm not a documentary junkie just sometimes I need a timeout between the other genres. But enough about me, the film against many odds is fabulous. It centers around life of the legendary editor Diana Vreeland and her feast of color and elegance. You don't necessarily need to dig deep in details if you are not fashion-minded person, but reading her quotes below from the documentary is compulsory. 

ON LIFE

There's only one very good life and that's the life you know you want and you make it yourself.

ON STYLE: 

Style is everything. It helps you get up in the morning. It helps you get down the stairs. It's a way of life. Without it, you are nobody. And I'm not talking about clothes. 

ON FASHION: 

It's part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.

ON VISION:

Does anyone read a picture book from the beginning? I don't. The eye has to travel. 

ON DREAMS:

I believe you see, in the dream. I think we only live through our dreams and our imagination. That's the only reality we really ever know. 

ON LIFETIME:

I once heard someone say: "I shall die very young. How young? I don't know maybe 70, maybe 80, maybe 90. But I shall be very young." 

Этот неловкий момент...., когда составляешь длинный список фильмов для просмотра, а, когда наконец-то находится свободное время в субботний вечер, его нигде не найти. Комедия? Драма? Ромком? Или все-таки триллер? Нет, я решила остановиться на самом "привлекательном" жанре - документальное кино. 

The Eye Has To Travel (дословно: Глазу необходимо путешествовать) - это фильм о легендарном редакторе Диане Вриланд и ее страсти к элегантности и цвету. Я никогда не была любителем документального кино, но иногда необходимо брать перерыв между другими жанрами. Вы можете не знать, кто такая Диана Вриланд, но цитаты из фильма не стоит обходить стороной. 

О жизни:

Есть только одна жизнь, и это жизнь, которую ты знаешь, ты хочешь и, которую построил сам. 

О стиле:

Стиль - это все. Он помогает тебе встать утром, спуститься по лестнице. Это способ существования. Без него ты - никто. И я не имею в виду одежду.

О моде:

Это часть ежедневной атмосферы, которая меняется изо дня в день со всеми происходящими событиями. В одежде вы сможете увидеть отражение устанавливающейся революции. Все можно увидеть и почувствовать в одежде. 

О креативности: 

Кто-нибудь читает фото книгу с самого начала? Я нет. Глазу необходимо путешествовать. 

О продолжительности жизни: 

Однажды я услышала от кого-то: 

- Я должен умереть молодым

- Во сколько? 

- Может быть в 70, может быть в 80, может быть в 90, но я должен умереть молодым.
